Keep sheet masks sealed until you are ready to use them, follow the storage directions on their packaging, and check the date information before opening. If a date is unclear, a pouch is damaged, or you are unsure how it was stored, ask the brand before using it. Do not calculate a shelf life from the sheet material alone.
A mask bought for a wedding, trip, or reunion may spend more time waiting in a drawer than you expected. At DAYBFOR, we see that waiting period as part of preparing for the night before. This guide focuses on the unopened pouch: what to read, where to put it, and what to do when something needs clarification.
Read the words beside the numbers
Start with the whole label, including the outer box and any enclosed instructions. A clearly identified expiry or use-by date answers a different question from a manufacturing date. A manufacturing date tells you when something was made; it is not, by itself, the last date for use.
A batch or lot code identifies production information. Do not assume a string of numbers is a readable expiry date. Cosmetics Europe’s label guide distinguishes the manufacturing batch number from durability information. Its guidance concerns European labels; the useful reading habit is to identify what each marking actually describes. [3]
If the date order is ambiguous, photograph the full marking and the product name together. Ask the brand to confirm the meaning and date format. An online batch-code calculator is not a substitute for the manufacturer’s confirmation of your particular pack.
Choose storage by the directions
FDA explains that cosmetic shelf life depends on the product, use, and storage. Heat and sunlight can affect cosmetics, and FDA specifically cautions against leaving them in a hot car. [1] Read the storage instructions before choosing a permanent spot.
Think about the place over a whole day: does direct sun reach the shelf, does a nearby heater warm the drawer, or does the bag stay in a parked car? Choose a spot that fits the pack’s directions. Keeping the box nearby also keeps its information available when you reach for the next sheet.
Does a sheet mask need the refrigerator?
Let the manufacturer’s directions answer that question. A preference for a cool sensation is not a storage requirement. This guide does not recommend refrigerating or freezing D-1, set a storage temperature, or assign it a shelf-life length without confirmed product-specific instructions.
If the instructions you have do not settle the question, contact the brand. Keep your question specific: name the product and explain whether you mean long-term storage or chilling it before use. These are different requests, and a clear question makes the answer more useful.
Check the pouch before opening
Look for a tear, leak, or an already-open seal. Packaging and storage can affect contamination risk, according to FDA. [2] Set a damaged pouch aside and contact the seller instead of treating a future printed date as reassurance.
For a useful inquiry, gather the product name, date or code, a clear photo, and a brief description of the issue. If heat exposure is the concern, describe what happened without trying to estimate an unverified safe temperature. The brand can then assess the question against its own product information.

Keep unopened and opened products separate
On some cosmetics, an open-jar symbol describes a period after opening. It is different from a calendar expiry date. [3] Do not transfer the months shown on a moisturizer jar to a single-use mask pouch.
DAYBFOR identifies D-1 as single-use. Keep each unused pouch sealed and follow its opening and disposal instructions. Do not save an opened pouch for another evening. Opening an outer box is a different action from opening an individual pouch; keep track of which one you mean when asking about storage.
Prepare the pouch before you prepare for tomorrow
DAYBFOR is our brand; D-1 Bio-Cellulose Mask is our product. “Biocellulose mask” is another spelling of the material description, not a separate storage category. Our night-before approach starts with getting to know the product ahead of the occasion, then keeping the remaining unopened sheets ready according to their directions.
For the next step, read how to apply D-1. For planning your evening, see mask mistakes to avoid before a big event. Follow the current instructions supplied with your mask, clarify any conflict with online guidance, and remove D-1 before sleep.
