Bio-cellulose isn't pressed from fibers. It's grown.
Coconut water is fermented, and the microbes in it spin out cellulose fibers — about 20 to 100 nanometers wide, roughly a thousandth the width of a standard pulp fiber. They grow into one continuous web, not separate threads laid across each other.
That's why it behaves differently. The web has enough surface area to hold around 50 times its own weight in essence. It follows the curve of your face instead of bridging across it. And as water leaves the web, it contracts — which is when it lifts what was sitting on your skin.
